Admissions
Bending Oaks was founded in 1985 by a group of teachers who wanted to create a unique educational environment with individual attention that inspires students to enjoy learning.
Many of our students arrive at Bending Oaks feeling frustrated with school, and often achieving well below their capabilities for various reasons. Our primary focus is to rebuild a student’s confidence in their abilities, and to get them on track to graduate from high school.
Our small class sizes allow teachers to assess and assist students individually, as well as to evaluate student achievement based on multiple factors, such as participation in class discussion and oral testing in addition to homework and classwork assignments.
Teachers also have the ability to present material in multiple ways to reach all learning styles, and to provide individual attention during class on a regular basis. Our teachers strive to serve the needs of every student, whatever those needs may be. Teachers attend a weekly meeting each Friday with the Principal, where they participate in ongoing collaboration to provide the best education possible to each student.
Expectations are individually defined, as different students have different abilities, and grades are earned accordingly. Our teachers limit homework assignments to only material that needs to be reinforced by repetition, such as math lessons, and assignments not completed during class time.
With our small classes, teachers find that they can effectively use in-class performance to assess mastery, including discussions, projects, and tests.

"My son has attended Bending Oaks since the beginning of the 2007 school year. He previously hated school and was certainly not a model student. Having now spent 12 weeks at Bending Oaks he enjoys going to school, is applying himself to his work during class and his behavior is, overall, reflecting a complete change of attitude to school. From a parents perspective I was concerned about the lack of homework that is given, however, the small sizes of the classes equate to fairly intense learning and my son utilizes his free time before school and during breaks to manage any homework that is given. It is a small community which means all the teachers are aware of each student's strengths and weaknesses and they manage my son well. I am very happy with Bending Oaks High School."

Year-Round Enrollment
At Bending Oaks we offer open enrollment. If a student has fallen
behind, or is just not suited to a particular program, we may be able to
help. Our smaller classes enable the teacher in this situation extra
time so that the student can get caught up. Contact
Bending Oaks to discuss your situation. |
