Excerpt from Lance Armstrong : Champion for Life!

"... School First

All of the training and racing hurt Lance at school, however. He missed six weeks of school, and his grades were low. The school administrators told Lance that he would not graduate from Plano East High School.

Lance's Mom wanted him to graduate before starting his sports career, however. She called many different schools in Texas to find a place for Lance.

Lance's cycling career impressed the administrators at Bending Oaks High School. The school would accept him if he would take some courses over again. Now Lance could finish high school and race bikes at the same time!"
